NIGHT TO SHINE VOLUNTEER Registration

There are many opportunities for you to serve at Night to Shine.  Descriptions of each team are below.  Our greatest need is for buddies to spend the night with our guests!  Approximately 200 buddies are needed!

Our guests begin arriving at 4:30PM and will leave a little after 9PM.  Many of the roles will require you to be there before our guests arrive.  If you sign up for a role and can no longer make it it is very important you let us know!!

Night to Shine Shirts:

We have Night to Shine shirts available,  from Grasshopper Lane Designs, for $20.  For each shirt you purchase, $3 will be donated to assist with the cost of hosting this event!  An event like this wouldn't be possible without donations from the public and our sponsors. Get yours today!  Orders will not be available until after the first of the year.

Activities Team

Team Lead - Terra Nickelson 

Responsible for all activities throughout the night including creating excitement on the dance floor.  Participate with guests in any additional activities including karaoke, limo rides, and dance floor.  Encourage them and maintain a fun atmosphere.

DANCE FLOOR TEAM
The dance floor will be the most popular spot throughout the night. Your goal is to keep the party going on the dance floor.  This team is on the lookout for wall flowers and encourages guests to hit the dance floor and engage in conversation.

KARAOKE TEAM
Responsible for set up and management of karaoke area. Assist with directing karaoke vendors to the correct areas.

LIMOS TEAM
Assists guests getting in and out of limos.  Some volunteers will ride with guests in limos to provide a safe environment while riding.

PHOTO BOOTH TEAM
Assist guests at the Photo Booth with selecting photo props, helping them into the booth, and making it a fun atmosphere.

Buddy Team

Team Lead - Shelly Parey

BUDDIES MUST BE AT LEAST AGE 15:  Accompany and assist assigned guest throughout the evening, providing companionship and any assistance they may need during the event.  Sit with your guest during dinner and engage with them in conversation.

BUDDY TEAM
Approximately  200 buddies are needed! This is our biggest need  and the most rewarding role! Every attendee will be assigned a buddy for the evening. Buddies hang out with guests, make conversation while enjoying dancing, food, limo rides, and karaoke alongside guests.  Buddies are to assist guests for the evening while encouraging guests to participate in the fun.  Dance with them and hopefully build a life long friendship!

Childcare Team

Team Leads - Tina Harrison & Ryan Martin

CHILDCARE TEAM
Childcare is provided for our volunteers at our main building on the upper floor,  1308 Fairgrounds Rd, Jefferson City, MO 65109.   This team will be in charge of watching the volunteer's children, so they can fill a role at the prom.  This role would require you to be at the Capital West Main Building from 3:00 PM to approx. 10:00 PM.  If we get enough people serving in this area, we will make shifts to reduce the amount of time you would need to be here.

Decoration Team

Team Lead - Mark Landis

DECORATING TEAM
You’ll help transform the Event Center into a memorable prom venue.  These finishing touches really can make the night. This team plans and executes any decorating needs for the evening including the dance space, karaoke room, respite rooms, and more!

Facilities Management Team

Team Lead - Jason Parey

PARKING LOT TEAM
This critical team directs guests from the moment they pull into the parking lot.  They will also assist guests in getting in and out of their cars, as well as valet for caregivers, and help them find the registration area.

SETUP/TEARDOWN TEAM
Assist the decoration team the night before the prom to transform the Event Center in an unforgettable place.  Teardown the decorations at the end of the night or the next morning.
 
SHUTTLE DRIVER TEAM
Shuttle volunteers, using our vans, from across the street before and after the event.  This position requires a CDL, previous van driving experience, and to sign our van driver waiver form.

WASTE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Ensure all trash is picked up and all trash cans have been emptied.  Ensure all bathrooms have sufficient paper towels and toilet paper is available.

Floating/Restroom Team

Team Lead - Erik Janeczko

FLOATING TEAM
Help fill in gaps throughout the night.  You may be re-assigned to another team if other teams are short.

RESTROOM ATTENDANT
Help guests find the restroom, and offer assistance in the restroom if needed. You will not be helping anyone go to the bathroom.  If a guest needs bathroom assistance, the Personal Care Team will handle assisting the guest.

Food Services Team

Team Leads -  Julie Baker, Matt Hodgen, & Elizabeth Nelson

The food services team will handle all aspects of serving food to our guests and volunteers.

MEAL PREP TEAM
Assist the team leader with preparing the meal for the event.  This will require time before the event to get all the food prepared.

SPECIALTY FOOD PREP TEAM
Assist with allergen free foods, puree, vegan meals.  

PROM SERVING TEAM
Serve food to guests in main event space.  Be knowledgeable about the items and assist guests in finding what they would like (Especially if they have dietary restrictions or allergies) and refill food warmers, drinks and snacks.  

VOLUNTEER SERVING TEAM
Setup and serve food to volunteers in the volunteer area.  

Personal Care Team

Team Lead - Andrew Stammer

The personal care team requires the volunteer to have a nursing background and have proper certifications for collecting and administering medications as well as providing special assistance to guests who cannot use the restroom on their own.

NURSES STATION
A professional nurse to manage and administer medications to guests.  Nursing background required!

PERSONAL CARE ROOM
Provide special assistance to guests who cannot use restroom on their own.  Help guests with cleanup needs that cannot be taken care of in a restroom.  Needs to be a professional nurse.

Photography Team

Team Lead - Jolena Brown

The photography team is responsible for taking candid photos throughout the evening and capturing the essence of the night.  Must have your own equipment and prior experience with taking pictures in a limited lighting environment.  SD cards will be provided and will be gathered by the team leader at the end of the night.

CANDID PHOTOGRAPHER
Take pictures throughout the evening of guests enjoying the night.  Your photos will be used for future promotions and shared in our Facebook group, Capital West Christian Church's Tim Tebow Night to Shine Prom.

PAPARAZZI
Give our guests the red carpet treatment by taking candid photos of guests entering on the red carpet.  Cheer for guests as their names are announced. The main goal is to take photographs and treat participants like honored guests and celebrities.

PHOTO ASSISTANT
Assist team leader with getting photographs, from professional photographers, printed at printing vendors.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER
Take professional quality photographs with Tim Tebow background.  Photos will be given to guests in gift takeaways at the end of the night.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER’S ASSISTANT
Assist professional photographers with posing guests and and assigning guest photo numbers for gift takeaway.

Publicity Team

Team Lead - Kim Stockstill

This team will be responsible for producing/distributing flyers for the event. They will also be responsible for sending thank you notes to our vendors.

EVENT PUBLICITY TEAM
This team will be responsible for event live streams on Facebook throughout the evening.  They will also assist news outlets in finding people for interviews.

PRE-EVENT PUBLICITY TEAM
This team helps ensure the community is aware of the event.  They will place flyers at various schools and community areas.  They will plan and construct press releases to be sent out at various times prior to the event and coordinate media coverage for the event.

THANK YOU TEAM
This team will handle post prom Thank You’s to the community and sponsors either through social media, newspaper, or radio ads.  They will also handle the ordering of appreciation plaques and distribution to our sponsors.

Security & Medical Team

Team Leads - David & Jennifer Boyd 

MEDICAL TEAM
Assist by providing basic first aid and care for any medical needs or emergencies.  You’ll also be available to direct guests to EMT’s or report disturbances.

SECURITY TEAM
As part of the Security team, your job will be to serve as security personnel during the event. This team will walk around and monitor all venues, while making sure exits are not blocked and all areas remain wheel chair accessible.

Sound & Video Team

Team Lead - Jason Yoder

TECH/SOUND/VIDEO/STREAMING TEAM
This team will run sound, lights, video, and microphones in the Event Center.  They will be responsible for assisting the team lead with live video streams. 

Specialty Services Team

Team Lead - Lydia Mietzner

GREETER
Welcomes each guest to a salon station for hair and makeup or for a shoe shine.  Help guests put on their crown or tiara.

FLORAL TEAM
Assist guests with putting on corsages and boutonnieres.

HAIR/MAKE UP/NAILS TEAM
This team helps with hair/make up pre-prom, and offers touch ups at prom to make sure guests look their best as they make their trip down the red carpet and are photographed by the paparazzi.

JEWELRY TEAM
Assist ladies with picking out and trying on jewelry.

SHOE SHINE TEAM
Give our guests the royal treatment with a shoe shine while engaging guests in conversation. This team will help set up and tear down the shoe shine station.

Welcome Team

Team Leads - Amanda Burks, Tina Owens, & Kim Stockstill

The welcome team is responsible for checking in guests and volunteers.  This team will also be helping guests get out of their vehicles, handing out gift bags to guests, and attending guests in the respite room.

BUDDY CHECK-IN TEAM
Assist the buddy team leader to check in buddies and get them pointed in the direction of the red carpet

COAT CHECK TEAM
Greet our guests with a friendly face and organize guest’s coats. As guests leave, ask for their names and retrieve their coats.

GUEST ARRIVAL TEAM
Welcome guests as they arrive, help them out of their vehicles,  and lead them to the red carpet.

GUEST  CHECK-IN TEAM
Warmly greet guests, assist them with checking in, and ensure they are matched with a buddy.

RED CARPET CHEERLEADER
Creates an environment of excitement with lots of cheering and clapping as the guests enter the red carpet.  This role will be outside in our welcome tent, so brings gloves and a jacket! We will have fun signs for you to hold that make the guests feel welcomed and loved!

RED CARPET FLOW TEAM
Assist guests as they make their way down the red carpet, manage flow of traffic and cheer them on to make them feel welcomed.

RESPITE ROOM
Assist guests, in a quiet room, to calm down if overstimulated.

VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN TEAM
Assist non-buddy volunteers get name tags and point them to their assigned meeting locations.
