Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Capital West Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God exists, so we earnestly seek Him.
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Jesus is our risen Lord and Savior, so we submit to Him.
Jesus is more than a great teacher or a great prophet - he is fully God and Lord of all. He truly holds all authority in Heaven and Earth.
This is how Jesus saved us - He died as a sacrifice for our sins, and that death was followed by a physical resurrection.
This is how Jesus saved us - He died as a sacrifice for our sins, and that death was followed by a physical resurrection.
Scripture is the Word of God, so we search it, that we might know Him.
We believe that the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God. It’s the basis and foundation for everything that we believe.
It is by grace through faith that we are saved, so we find salvation in Christ alone.
Salvation is a gift of grace, not anything that we deserve or could ever earn by our works. Grace is the means of our salvation, and faith is the agency of our salvation. Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior.
The Church is the people of God, so we gather together under one purpose.
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We must be born again by the Holy Spirit, so we repent and are baptized.
God grants us new life by being born again by the Holy Spirit. The distinguishing mark of a Christ follower is that the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in their life to make them a new person.
We must persevere in a faithful faith, so we actively take next steps.
The message of the Bible is clear - believers must persevere in their faith, not drifting away but holding firmly to their commitment to Christ. This is why it’s crucially important to be actively and intentionally engaged in the life of the Church on a daily basis. This is why we exist - to help you take your next step with Jesus.
